Design by Nature is a
REVELATION.
It is both A BOOK AND A BIBLE of sorts:
It investigates and illuminates the
SYMBIOTIC RELATIONSHIPS in nature, art,
science, economics, philosophy, technology, and design.”
—DEBBIE MILLMAN—

ABOUT THE BOOK

Design by Nature is an eclectic journey that examines the unending versatility of nature and how to use its ingenuity for compelling visual communications. Written by Maggie Macnab for designers, educators, and creative thinkers of all types, the book guides the reader through a series of subtle relationships between human and natural design that are universal to a global audience. Using clear explanation, examples, and hands-on exercises, you will learn about the natural processes of everyday patterns and forms that create meaningful visual messaging and the principles that guide them.
Design by Nature is first place recipient of the Non-fiction award from the 2013 National Federation of Press Women, 2012 New Mexico/Arizona Book Award, and New Mexico Press Women's Association. It was most recently awarded Best Translated Book in Iran by 4baq Seasonal Magazine (industrial design) and the Iranian Book News Association in March 2014. It has been translated into Spanish, Korean, Chinese (simplified and traditional), and Farsi. Maggie was interviewed in May 2013 for Design Matters.
